THUMPER AND ME

Been thinking dogs with blogs. Hmmmmm. Wondering. Can you tell me? What makes me. Me? And you. You?

See I've been pondering in the park 'cos when I went last week I kept meeting me a new animal. New to me anyways. Didn't want to chase 'em. Or worse. No.

Just wanted to Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit. Bunny, Bunny,Bunny. Pass the time of day politely as our paths crossed. Talk bout carrots. Maybe the weather. State of the grass. Discuss our day.

Everywhere I looked. There they were.

Popping up all over the place.

Awww. Cute. Bunny wrabbit Rabbits. Just like this one.

Infact, come to think of it. It was this one.

I sorted of gave him the Square Dog once over. And he sort of looked back at me. At the time I didn't know what he was. And he didn't know what I was. Only curious about each other. As I looked at him I noticed several things. He had a black shiny nose like me. It twitched like mine. Whiskers. Yep we both had them. A pair of floppy ears. A furry coat. Me too. Four legs. One at each corner. What do you know. Exactly like me! With paws and claws at the ends.

A matching pair of round brown eyes. Both me and Rabbit. He did a funny bunny hop.

Look at me! I do a neat bunny hop on two legs too.

He sort of came out of this hole.

I sort of tried to get down this hole.

Here's the amazing bit. He showed me his special clever trick. Mom says unique to Rabbits. Something about breeding. "Izzy Wizzy Let's Get Bizzy" That's what I heard Rabbit say.

Right before my round brown eyes he makes himself into two Rabbits!

Then into three Rabbits!

Neat. Very neat.

I wanted to ask how he did that. But before I could he gave me the hop. Shame. We had such a lot in common to rabbit about. Rabbit and me.

Those bunnies look like fun...the more the merrier! I don't think they'll be just like dogs until they start having blogs, though.

Eric, Fellow Square Dog, What a metaphysical post! How does a rabbit know he's a rabbit? How does a square dog know he's a square dog? What's the difference between one set of big black nose, twitchy whiskers, and a set of paws and claws???

I, Jake, like to ponder those things. My Bro, JH, is, tra, la, la, off chasing Mr. Bunny!!

What a fun post.

Erm, Eric. Are you missing a square dog terrier gene or something? Rabbits are for chasing. Not contemplating. Don't worry, you'll probably NEVER catch one but the thrill is all in the chase! J x

Rabbits are stupid and some are evil. They are no good at bitey face and should be treated the same way as stuffies. Only I'm not allowed to see what their stuffing looks like.

Eric,

It sounds to me like you were a rabbit in your first life. My only question is...WHY THE HECK DIDN'T YOU CHASE THOSE SUCKERS!!! If you caught one think of all the fun you coulda had with it!

Oh, well...at the rate they are multipling, you could probably grab one any other time!

Slurp!

Eric, my existentialist little buddy.. those rabbit critters are way beneath you in the chain and are meant to be food that you eat, not food for thought.

This was a real thinker post. You are so profound! I like that in a friend!!

Eric, you forgot to mention that both you and the bunnies have cute fluffy tails. Personally, I'm pleased that you didn't chase them (now if they'd been squirrels, that would have been a whole 'nother story! They're really fun to chase because you can try to chase them right up the tree!)

I'm supposed to be a digger dog but I'm just not interested. So I can understand why you'd rather not attack those adorable bunnies, too. Come Stateside and we'll find us a mess of squirrels to bother!

Your pal,

Petey

Hey Square Pal,

We read all the posts above, and love all the different approaches to terrierness and bunniness. But we stand by our thoughts -- at least I, Jakey, do.

We watched a segment on a Sunday show yesterday about how American gray squirrels are invading rarer red squirrel territory in the UK. Have you seen anything about that? As terriers, should we be protesting the demise of the red squirrel???

Food for thought? Or just food?

Eric Dude ~

Very cool that you got to play with the bunnies! We think that is toally pawesome, though being terriers we would have done more chasing, catching and shaking....we try to do that at home with everything that moves in our yard. Mumsie would think we would not have been as well behaved as you!

Coolio!

So, we haven't chatted ina while...we got our sissy dale - her name is Lola Belle and she wears PINK. She is pretty cool - it took us a couple days to decide to let her in the pack. She can be pesty but that's no worry anymore, she knows that Jack is BOSS!

Come see we are celebrating in PINK on our bloggie...Mumsie's choice, not ours, for the record.

Anyhow, looks like you have been having a good time dude...Stay Cool!
