FLAT OUT IN THE COTSWOLDS

Barking big apologies everybloggie. Been a bit like Lacie. All behind. Haaaaaa!!!(in visiting) Haven't even barked about how my incredible shrinking self, Little Eric, escorted two flat girlies to the Cotswolds for a bit of a break. Did my best to show them A Merry Can Girlies all things Great about Britain.

And Rightly Royal. But that Lacie. Before I finished barking the second chorus of Rule Britannia . . .

she was like a rash over these two local dude Door Stops. Arranging a Double Door date for herself and Asta. Serve Lacie right if she's eventually left on that shelf ...ooooo haaaaaaaaaa!!!!. On the other paw. Asta the sweet pea. Could hardy contain hew disbelief when she saw the lights on Broadway (in the Cotswolds).

See it? That one street light on the right. Our Broadway is something to bark about too. One of the most beautiful villages in this old England.

With it's long grass lined street . . .

stuffed full of 16th Century limestone buildings and delicious honey coloured Cotswold stone houses . . .

with higgedlypiggedly, rough and tumble dry stone walls . . .

and every garden flaunting manicured topiary trimmings . . .

and properly perfect . . .

garden statues . . .

Let alone quaint Shopeee's. Took them flats for a smoothie or few down the local pubs too..

Raised a glass in this one for my hound dog sweetie Toffee pupcake . . .

And in this one could hardly believe their mince pies!!! That date IS 947!!!! And Yep. The door. A tree trunk all unshaped at the front.

Course. Mom dragged us along to one of her flavourite places . . .

for a spot of tea. Shopping too in the pretty converted barns . . .

Teeehee!!! Not that we three . . .

or my pal Dexter and his wirey still life lookielike were allowed inside.

Course. Me and the flat girlies did think of everybloggie. But. Before my little square self scoots. Let's dispel a myth once and for all. Despite Asta weawing her waincoat. Everywhere we went. Didn't rain once!!!

Uncle Eric, aren't you just the best host ever, showing your A Merry Can girlies round those most beautiful English villages. I am a wee bit upset at the pub sign - horse and hound. WHERE WERE THE FOX TERRIERS? I think you should complain!
And be honest Eric, did you really not have something a bit stronger than a smoothie when inside the pub?
Oh and I trust you left a message on that old tree trunk there. You know, a contribution for posterity etc.
Well I hope to be taken to the prettier parts of England one day. And perhaps next time your flat friends come over to this side of the Pond, you could head a little further North and together we could show them some of the glories of North Britain too. Hpw about it eh?
Toodle pip!
Your ever admiring and enthusiastic nephew Bertie.

Nice place you went to, I like little Eric, sort of pocket sized. Good of you to take your flat girlies. Dog Parking never seen a sign like that before, should it have said Dog Barking?
Dad says he's pleased you got to go in a pub or maybe more than one!

Thanks for taking us on your trip. We love looking at those UK places with the old architecture and whatnot. Nothing like that in Master Chew Sits.

Hi Eric, those were some very pretty pics of 'Olde England' - our humans would fit right in there.
We cannot understand why we were not at the Horse and Hound to greet you - seems only fitting somehow.
We have missed you.

But of COURSE it didn't rain! There is always sunshine around my dearest square dog : )

Thanks for raising a glass at the pub for me - what a special surprise...tee heee.

I hope that Lacie behaved herself around you and didn't offer up one of those potent smoothies cause she kind of looks like she's about to sink her teeth into something (hopefully not you!).

What a beautiful area of the country, thank you for sharing : )

It was extremely interesting for me to read this article. Thanks for it. I like such topics and anything that is connected to them. I definitely want to read more on that blog soon.

So. We barely get back to a quite listless and neglected Winston and Charles, only to see this lovely post that made them more than homesick. Downright blue and depressed they were. Are. Seeing all those lovely old buildings and manicured gardens. There's nothing like that here ... the oldest place we know (other than the dinosaur prints ... and that's different) is only slightly over a hundred years old. We're feeling a bit shameful. So Moma went to the market and bought some Cotswold cheese. (As if that's gonna help.) These wheeless ones are making noise that the next trip better be back over the pond. And you know what? When they bark, Moma listens.

(Actually. Truth be told. Moma is using those wheeless ones as an excuse to HAVE to make the trip someday. Whatever works. We just wanna keep everyone happy.)

Oh. One more thing. Did ya hear? Jake loves Ruby. Big Time.

With much love.
Your family in the very old Rocky Mountains,
Fergi (and the others)

(Jake sends a special hello to Otis.)
