THE DOGGIE DERBY

THE DOGGIE DERBY 2009

LOCATION;- HOME PARK AT HAMPTON COURT PALACE

COMMENTATOR;- ERIC LITTLE STUFFIE

PHOTOGRAPHY:- SQUARE MOM (complaining how darn difficult it is to get three zooming dogs in one shot)

Thanks for tuning in everybloggie. We're here for the first ever Doggie Derby!!! Being held at Home Park, situated behind Hampton Court Palace. It's three kilometers of wide open beautiful green space. Perfect for the race, even includes a golf course with right of way for a bit of a diversion.

Take your seats for a grandstand view cos the competitors are already here looking lickety spit and lively. Despite King Simba and Princess Jazzi arriving via their Royal Liner down the River Thames. While Eric Square walked his wig wag here from Square house. What?!! Was that wise before the big race??? Want a looksee at the competitors form bloggies before placing your bet on the poll on the sidebar?

NO 1. King Simba. Owned and trained by NSF Daddy and Mommy. Three year old. A fine Lhasa Apso. Regal. Steady and calm. But slightly wobbly legged from the boat ride.

No 2. Princess Jazzi. Owned and trained by Simba's Man Servants. A Jug. Pug/Jack Russell Cross. 6 months old. Untried runner. Unpredictable. Excitable. Recovering from a dose of Dye Your Ears. Lively. Long leggededs.

No 3. Eric Square Dog. Wiley Fox Terrier. 3 year old. Going on 6 months. Loopy. The jealous type. Loves being chased. Always on the look out for a free lunch.

The competitors are assembled in the parade ground strutting their stuffies. Look at this...

King Simba's on a Royal walkabout!!!! Inspecting Eric. From Port to Starboard.

Then. Stem to Stern.

Next up. The cheeky Royal pair....

try the old intimidation routine on Eric. " Nah nah na nah na. Can't catch me eee.Tee.He.Hee". Uh oh. Here comes the Royal trainer NSF Daddy....

pointing out last minute tactics to the RH's. Don't forget. Place your bets everybloggie before the race begins. And remember to visit Simba and Jazzi's bloggie for further coverage. Right. They're at the starting post. Okey dokey doggies? Ready? Steady. Go!!! And they're OFF!!!

Eric positions himself in the outside lane for a quick getaway. Showing us a clean pair of heels from his bath the day before. While brother and sister stick together. Hurtling down to Long Grass Pass, it's Eric in the lead and oooo ......

Simba and Jazzi both seem to be up to their Royal necks in it!!!! These doggies are MOTORING...to the tricky Sandy Bunker Turn at the halfway mark. Go! Go! Go! Clock that Eric...

Xecuting a pawfect turn. Jazzi right on his tail. Nooooo!!!! Eric's barking "chase me" while zooming up and down the bunker....

and Simba's trying out his blocking tactic as per NSF Daddy's instruction. Made Jazzi's tail curl just watching. Before she ....

sprinted off. Eric's catching her...Simba's flyin'. Them dogs are HOT TO TROT!!! Into the home run and it's Eric!!! Eric's in the lead!!! Chased by Jazzi while Simba....

seems to closing in. What a great finish this is going to be. Those competitors are SMOKIN'!!!HOT HOT.HOT. Who's your money on bloggies? Could be a photo finish.

It is!!! Eric's first over by a head!!! Simba's close behind. Piping his sister past the post!!! Woohoooo!!! What a fine finish eh everybloggie???!!!! What a race. You can tell those dogs were loving every minute. Had the bestest time. As the competitors slowly make their way back to the local watering bowl we can see...

Jazzi, peed off by the constant puparrazi attention, giving them a rude gesture. Later over drinks at the watering bowl, the trainers and owners discuss a rematch. And Simba

smug as a Pug. Or a Jug (like his blister) sits on Square Mommy's lap. Getting right Royal attention. Phew. Lucky jealous Eric was asleep. Looks like Simba's the winner after all!!! Know what Big Eric told me later though? He had a fab time with the Royals and their leggededs. Thought Jazzi and Simba rocked. And King Simba rules.

Hi Eric
How cool to meet up with the right royal Simba and the beautiful princess Jazzi!
The pictures of the three of your were great although some were a bit too up close and personal for us aunties!
We cannot believe how much Jazzi has grown - she certainly gave you and Simba a run for your money!
It is great when bloggie buddies meet up for real and fantastic when they get along so well.
Next thing you know Eric you will be invited aboard the HMS doggie boat and be sailing the ocean wide!!!
Of couse you will have to wear you dashing sailor outfit for that.
love and kisses

Yep, i'm a gamblin' kinda girl and put big dollas on you, E! couldn't decide if it was the fabby turns or the length of your snooter that won it! Simba does have a disadvantaged snooter, but hey! a winnah's a winnah!

was this the first of the triple crown circuit?

great fun 4 all!

Thanks for the gift tips. Your right.. need to be proactive in case that snapper fish takes to life.

I thought I'd swing by to see your fuzzbutt in a sprint again. Got me pondering? Does your tail ever go down or is it always erect like a flag pole? Maybe you could do that flag waving stuff again but with your tail. Norwood

So, we're thinking.... do the math. Who has the longest legs? Who is most motivated to get the the treats at the end? Is there any relationship to the winner?
