A WALK IN THE PARK

We're here. My bestest mind - a- boggling walk! It's just down the road from where I live. Going to wig your wag along with me? This is Royal Bushy Park. On of the Parks adjacent to Hampton Court Palace. Remember? The park was given to King Henry 8th by Cardinal Wolsey in 1529 and now belongs to the Queen. And her corgis. All of them. Emma, Linnet, Holly, Willow and three dorgis, Brandy, Cider and Berry. Plus Rush, Minnie and Monty who belonged to the late Queen Mother. That's a lot of poop to scoop for Mr. Sir. Vent on their walkies . . .

I'm going to tell you something bout the park as you cousins In A Merry Car might be interested 'cos it's got a bit of A Merry Can history. In World War II, part of the park became Camp Griffiss, which was the base camp for the US 8th Army Air Force, US Strategic Air Forces and then later on the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Forces. The most important person who lived on the base camp was General Eisenhower. He planned Operation Overlord. Overlord was the code name for the allied invasion of north-west Europe that began with the D-D landings. There are formal memorials to the USAAF and SHAEF in the north-east corner of the park so we will head over and sniff those out. I don't really know bout much of that but Mom says it's all about freedom and liberty for all creatures. So be free, those leads come off pals.

Now as this is a Royal Park, when I visit here, I use my full Aristocrat title. Mom says it's a bit of a mouthful when calling me but I insist. Besides it makes me giggle,it's so true . . .

My Peculiar Aristocratic Title is:
Most Noble and Honourable Eric the Radiant of Piddletrenthide on the Carpet
Get your Peculiar Aristocratic Title

Don your crown, grab your sceptre and you girls throw on your ermine cloaks. My Lords. Ladies. Honourables. Let's give this park a Right Royal Going Over.

Pawfect. A red carpet put out for our visit. Don't forget to wave to the adoring crowds when you see them.

Now the entrance to the park entrance is a mile long, lined on each side with a row of towering chestnut trees. They are in full blooming lovely bloom right now.

Behind the Chestnut Trees on both sides are avenues of Lime trees.

Blimey. Sort of, umm, limey. Let's wag down the avenue and sneak a peak at the dear little deers.

These deers are the direct descendants of the ones King Henry put into the park all those years ago in the year 1529. Dog-a-blogging amazing. Now you! Yes! You! Gun Dogs! Show some respect boyzs. No taking pot shots at the deers. Remember they leave us such nice little presents. Lip smacking lovely. I'm very partial to a poop or two. Are you?

These are the little fallow deers. With astonishingly big ears.

The dear Moms hide their Bambi's in the ferns.

Tell me. Is this tree tall or is me so small?
Everywhere amazing space! The park is over 5 miles square with too much to wag over to today. There's fountains, streams, ponds, gardens, rabbits, stags and the magical white deers. I'll bring you here again in the summer.

Shall we ? Do a bit of bark in? Tee hee!

Or do some rock and roll?

Climb these big logs ?

Or goof around being dogs? Here's one of the adoring crowds (oh,this one's shy)

Noses to the ground. Let's sniff out these memorials.

Pawfect place for them. Do you agree?

Jeepers! Forgot we had transport laid on to get you all home.
Thanks for wagging with me, Eric Square Dog. Safe journey.

Hey Eric, what a pawsome park. It's a bit more fancy than my local, I can tell you. Mind you, I do sometimes stroll around the Royal Pavilion gardens so I suppose that's quite posh, isn't it? J x

PS I see that Simba is buying your parcel exchange gift. He's one of my blogging pals, and is King of the Realm!

Thanks for the tour, Eric. What an interesting and beautiful place to take a walk. You sure know your history. It was very interesting. My Mama always wants to know the history of the places she goes to.

I went and got my aristocratic title too. I am now known as: Chef the Mellifluous of Dicken St. Charles! That's a mouthful. Can you imagine my Mama saying: Chef the Mellifluous of Dicken St. Charle, sit! I think I'll stick to Chef. And guess what my fortune cookie said? "It is time to open up your dream boxes." Hmmmm. Timely with the exchange going on!

By the way, my Mama love your face.

xoxo Chef

Pheww! What a great walk that was; I am just exhausted from trying to keep up with you. Sorry about the "incident" when I started to chase after the deer - how embarrassing for you...sorry.

My mom told me that she was jealous that I got to go on the walk with you as she loves Hampton Court Palace grounds - she's been twice, most recently a year ago! I tried to tell her that we were NEAR the palace but not at the palace but she wouldn't listen..humans!

Ok, I must snooze after our long walkie!
see ya!
