BIRTHDAY TEA WITH PETEY

Hello everybloggie. Been a sad time. Our chum Hamish left to go to the bridge. Such a grand old chap. Wise in word and deed.

Occasionally. Rascal ones! He left a comment on my blog not so long ago. Yapping about a neat terrier trick he'd pulled at the tea table when he was a young 'un. 'Course. I encouraged him to blog about it. Made me laugh my square head off when he did. Read it here on his blog. A right funny feast.

Straight after, inspired by Hamish's teatime tale, I put my paw to paper. Wrote a poem. Barking about the time me and Petey had just spent in London for his birthday treat (Petey's Birthday is this week everybloggie. Mica's too. Woohoo!!)

In my square noggin', as I wrote, Hamish was with me. Knew he would relate to my poem. Like to think now he might even approve. So. As they do in the front of fine books. A dedication. "This poem's dedicated to you my dear chum Hamish. Thanks for being you. Until we meet again."

Petey's Birthday Tea.

I wanted to treat my pal Petey
It's his birthday week you see.
I knew just where to take him.
The Ritz for a right slap up tea!

We nibbled and scarfed down biscuits
Munched on sandwiches. Marmite and Spam.
Sunk our teeth into Carob Gateaux
And a Victoria Sandwich with jam.

Millionaire Shortbread and Coconut Kisses
Cakes Coffee. Lemon Drizzle. Blueberry.
We couldn't bark no to crumpets
Or cupcakes topped off with a cherry.

Stuffed down tea cakes dripping with butter
Dundee cake. Flapjacks. Apple pies.
Bloggies. You would never believe it
But our bellies. They doubled in size!

Of course! Barkday cake for Petey
A Kitty log one, fresh 'n scrummy.
We belched out loud with pleasure.
Was completely. And utterly. Yummy.

Wolfed down plates of pink fondant fancies
Boy oh Boy. That tea was a winner.
As stuffed as we was. We loosened our togs.
And trotted off to the Savoy. For Dinner!

Happy Birthday week to you BFF Petey. Your kittie bro' Mica too. Have a wagging wonderful one!

Hi Eric, lovely tribute to our wee pal and great birthday wishes for Petey!
We are quite sure Hamish would love your poem.
We certainly did. We loved the pics and our computer is now covered in drool.
It all looked very nice indeed and we hope you two behaved yourselves.
What a lovely teapot!
We must go over and wish Petey and Mica a great birthday week.
Do you think your mom arranged to have the two birthdays in the same week so it would be easier to remember?
love and kisses

What a great poem and lovely visuals to go with it. Lets think that Hamish is looking on, laughing and having a great time. After all, the Rainbow Bridge must have a huge computer room, where our pups could keep an eye on us!

Good going and I am going off to wish Petey a Happy Birthday!

Kisses,
Stella

Ah Eric, I'd have been here sooner with my comments about your marvelous poem, but I had to take an enormous nap. So glad we decided to walk to the Savoy. That exercise really worked up an appetite!

Thanks pal!

What a friend and host you are! We're not sure who probably enjoyed it most ... Hamish or Petey or any of your fan club. What we do know is Moma had to get up and get a shortbread to eat, and that means if we beg nice and sweetly, we'll get a nibble. You and our family over the pond are amazing.

Love and smooches to Old Soul (we're guessing his system isn't quite up to the rich cakes and pastries any more)

Dear Eric and SquareMom
Thank you so much for the beautiful and characteristically witty tribute to Hamish. I love the poem and and sure he would too (although he would certainly have felt carob cake to be a poor substitute for the chocolate that he had such a genius for sniffing out, no matter how well I thought I had it hidden!) The pictures of Eric and Petey are just hilarious.
Well I shall certainly carry on reading your blog, and as I adjust to life without dear Hamish ( I miss him so much at the moment) I am starting to think about the format for a new blog, although it may take a while to decide on the direction.
But for now,
All the best,
Gail.

Dear Eric

that was a wonderful tribute to dear Hamish, we didn't know him well, but we were so sorry to hear he had crossed the bridge.

And as one poet to another, may I compliment you on your Epic Poem, or should I say "Eric Epic Poem". ;0D

My Jeannie was reading this post and trying to resist snacking before her dinner, now she is beside herself with hunger looking at all your niceties in those pics!

Hi Eric
We didn't know Hamish but we are sure he would love that tribute. We are sorry he had to go to the Bridge but he will be having a wonderful time with all his friends who went before. We send comforting purrs to his family.
That is a great poem. You are very talented. Looks like you and Petey had the best time. Happy Birthday to him and Mica.

Petey and Eric partook of tea...

Selfish beasts, they didn't ask me.

Lacie alone; the winter is boring...

All she hears is Scruff and Stan loudly snoring...

She thinks of Petey...paws smeared with butter, all of the silver knocked down in the gutter...

Eric is crowned like a margarine ad...

Not realizing he looks a bit of a cad...

Lacie shrieks; so mad at being left out...Petey and Eric respond with a shout!

Shut your gob Miss Lacie, you'll render us deaf....and carryin' you 'round, tis more than we heft...

You are as big as a cow, as wide as a horse

We mean you no insult, you know that of course...

Now go away dear while we return to our tea...Eric requests on bended knee.

The day is rift with a hoooge screeching shriek, words sounding like "YOU TOTAL JERKS"..

You won't share your tea
You'll gnaw on your scones...

Splittin' nuthin' with me...

Cept a pile of old bones...

Happy Barkday to Petey

May he get a new ball...

As for sweet Lacie?

I'm goin' to the mall.

TO SHOP.

I can't take a hint...sheesch..

Happy Barkday, Petey!!!

Pee ess...Scruffy wrote this poem...it's horrible isn't it?

Sheesch...Lac.

good morning bros. I'm actually into shoes and I have been digging as far as something that particular model. The prices for the shoes were about 320 pounds everwhere. But completely I set this area selling them for half price. I really want these prada sneakers. I will absolutely purchase them. what is your opinion?

Interesting anonymous comment there!
Where do they come from?
Anyways we came over to say the weather in Scotland is dreadful - blizzard conditions!
This is why our mum was mucking about with pics yesterday - well it was either that or housework!
We didn't even go for a walk yesterday as we feared we might lose Bailey in a snow drift!
We have managed out today. We see you have upset Lacie!
Beware young Eric!

Eric,

We love your barkday poem about your big day with Petey. But, have you read Scruffman's rebuttle? Pretty good, I must say. And, you thought you could not invite Laciecakes without hearing her shriek all the way over there in the UK! Oh well, better luck next time.

By the way, me Mom and I need to take Photoshop lessons from you. I mean, how do you guys do these amazing things? Is there a book that me needs to read? I stink at it right now!
